Babylon Village to Replace Old Golfhouse Trailer

Newsday reports the village will spend about $100,000 to construct a building to replace the trailer.

Babylon Village will be building a new structure on the municipal golf course to replace an old trailer that has been used as a clubhouse for sometime.

Newsday.com reports the village will spend upwards of $100,000 on the new building. That figure could go up if the new clubhouse is furnished with amenities like geothermal heating or solar panels.

"That trailer is 11 years old and showing its age, said Deputy Mayor Kevin Muldowney to Newsday. “It’s starting to show wear and tear and it’s a tight space.”

Muldowney also said the amenities might be able to pay themselves off in the future, but did not provide an estimate. Funding for some of the project will come from payments made by the Long Island Rail Road for use of village land.

Bids for the construction of the new clubhouse were due to the Village Hall on Thursday morning and it is expected to be ready for operation later this fall.
