Drunk West Babylon Man Leads Police On High Speed Chase: Cops
The 26-year-old was tried to flee on foot after crashing into a fence and trees, police say. His passenger escaped on foot.

WEST BABYLON, NY - A West Babylon man was arrested on a DWI charge after leading officers on a high speed on the Southern State Parkway on Sunday, according to State Police.
At about 4:36 a.m. troopers saw a 2017 Chrysler driven by 26-year-old Javonne Mimms, traveling at a "high rate of speed" southbound on Roue 110 by he Southern State Parkway in the Town of Babylon, police said.
The troopers followed the car onto the parkway heading eastbound and tried to initiate a vehicle and traffic stop. However, Mimms failed to comply and fled eastbound on the parkway, police said.

The troopers pursued him to exit 37N onto Belmont Avenue.
The car turned off Belmont Avenue onto Pitcher Street westbound then southbound on Govenor Avenue until it collided into a fence and trees on the corner of Govenor Avenue and Lakeway Drive in West Babylon.

Mimms got out of the car and tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody without further incident, police said.
An unknown passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police searched the area yielding no results.
Mimms was charged with DWI, unlawful fleeing a police officer, second degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
The passenger has not yet been caught.
