Update: Limited Babylon Trains Running

The Long Island Rail Road is running limited service out of Babylon as of this morning.

The LIRR Babylon Branch is operating today with limited service in both directions.

As of 5:08 a.m. the railroad began running westbound half-hourly service through the morning peak timeframe. Westbound trains are accommodating customers at Lynbrook. There is very limited morning eastbound service.

It also restored limited service from Penn Station on the Port Washington, Huntington, and Ronkonkoma branches.

The limited service will continue after peak time as well. Parking lots at Babylon, as well as Bellmore, Merrick, Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Seaford, and Wantagh are cleared, according to the MTA.

LIRR crews have been out across the network clearing and removing up to two feet of snow from the tracks, crucial signals and switches that make up rail operations, according to the MTA. In addition, snow fighters have been deployed across the city to clear snow from bus stops and along bus routes.

Riders should allow for extra time, and are advised to monitor the MTA website, and the Current Service Status information display.

The MTA site is also reminding riders that its new fare rates will take effect December 30.
