LIRR Service Returns to Normal on Babylon Branch
Schedule changes implemented on the Babylon Branch of the Long Island Rail Road on July 9 have been restored to normal.
Starting today the Long Island Rail Road plans to restore four trains along the Babylon Branch to normal schedule after changing or eliminating them for service work on July 9.
The following trains arriving at Babylon Station will be restored to normal service, as stated:
- The 4:52 p.m. eastbound train from Penn Station to Babylon. (Originally canceled)
- The 5:36 p.m. eastbound train from Penn Station to Babylon. (Originally made later)
- The 5:59 p.m. eastbound train from Penn Station to Babylon. (Originally made later)
- The 6:44 p.m. eastbound train from Babylon to Patchogue. (Originally made later)
The trains were underground near Manhattan and Queens for the East Side Access project. Work wasn't expected to be completed until mid-August, and the trains weren't expected to be returned to normal until next week.

The LIRR, in a statement on the MTA's website, credited the work of its employees and those from MTA Capital Construction, Amtrak, MTA LIRR and others for completeing the task ahead of schedule.
