Man Charged In Connection To West Babylon Bank Robbery: Police

The 60-year-old was arrested shortly after the robbery occurred Thursday afternoon, police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY — An arrest has been made in connection to a West Babylon bank robbery that occurred Thursday afternoon, according to Suffolk County Police. The robbery happened at around 1 p.m. at the People's United Bank on 955 Little East Neck Road. During the incident, a man handed a teller a note demanding cash and the teller complied, handing over cash from the drawer, police said. The robber then took off on a bicycle.

Following an investigation shortly after the robbery, detectives arrested 60-year-old George Swanton, of West Babylon, in connection to the incident on Thursday, police said.

He was charged with third degree and a violation of parole warrant, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
