Man Charged With Leaving Dog Outside In Extreme Heat: SPCA
The man left the dog outside — and alone — during a severe heat advisory, Suffolk SPCA says.

WEST BABYLON, NY — A West Babylon man was arrested and charged on Friday, after he restrained his dog outside during a severe heat advisory, the Suffolk County SPCA said.
Ismaylin Batista, 25, was charged with animal cruelty, the SPCA said.
After an investigation, detectives found Blue, Batista's pit bull, outdoors while he was not home, with a leash approximately two-to-three feet in length, during a severe heat advisory, the SPCA said.

Extreme heat can be hazardous to pets and can cause severe health issues or tragic results; the SPCA warned all pet owners to take proper precautions to protect animals.
Batista is scheduled to appear in First District Court, Central Islip, on Aug. 11.

Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County, the SPCA said. Anyone who witnesses any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County is asked to contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
