Man Killed In Boat Crash In Great South Bay: PD
The 25-year-old was a passenger on one of the two boats that crashed in the West Fox Creek Channel Sunday afternoon.
BABYLON, NY — A Lindenhurst man was killed after a crash between two boats in the Great South Bay Sunday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.
A 58-year-old Farmingdale man was operating a 17-foot 1981 Boston Whaler southbound in West Fox Creek Channel, south of Babylon, when the vessel struck a northbound 22-foot 1987 Activator motor boat, operated by a 19-year-old Lindenhurst man, at 2:40 p.m.
A passenger on the Activator, 25-year-old Zachary McCarthy, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The two boat operators were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries.
Both boats were impounded for safety checks.
