Mayor's Cup Charity Soirée 2021

Set on the magnificent waterfront at the historic Long Island Yacht Club with views to the Robert Moses bridge, the Mayor's Cup Charity Soiree will take place on Saturday, September 18 from 2-6 PM. A fundraising event that benefits local environmental non-profit Save The Great South Bay, the celebration directly follows the historic multi-class Mayor's Cup Regatta hosted by the Great South Bay Yacht Racing Association.

Soirée will begin at 2 PM with live music from the No Request Band, cold beer from Blue Point Brewing, Captree Clam raw bar & fresh oysters from local oyster farmers, top dishes from local restaurants, along with tons of raffles, fun & much more - all while raising awareness of the health of the Great South Bay and the organizations efforts to revitalize it.

Tickets to the event are $100/person for general admission or $250/person for VIP admission which includes an exclusive pre-celebration Happy Hour with delicacies from Captree Clam.

Highlights from 2021

• Creek Defender Program - Picked up over 10,000 lbs of trash out of local creeks of this year
• Habitat Restoration - Identified and created acres of Bay Friendly Yards across the South Shore reducing nitrogen flowing to the Bay
• Great South Bay Oyster Project - Seeded our Oyster Sanctuary with over 5,000 baby oysters

The History of the Mayor's Cup Charity Regatta

Founded by the Long Island Yacht Club (LIYC) back in the 1980’s, the Mayor’s Cup Charity Regatta quickly became the Island’s largest attended race each season. In addition to its prestigious location, this race offered the largest class for boats that rarely raced. After several successful years, the Race Committee unfortunately waned, the LIYC leadership changed, the club fell upon hard times, and the race was eventually discontinued. Now under new ownership for the past four years, LIYC is returning this prestigious race to its former glory and place among the top races on Long Island.

Save The Great South Bay is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to protecting and preserving the Great South Bay. Our Speaker Series is a quarterly talk that connects advocates, resources and expertise to achieve real solutions, help restore the Great South Bay, and with that strengthen our South Shore communities.
