Suffolk Police Release Details on Back-to-Back Bank Robberies

The robberies occurred less than a half hour apart Tuesday morning.

Suffolk Police are investigating two bank robberies that occurred less than a half hour apart Tuesday morning.

Police confirmed a 911 call at 11:30 a.m. reporting a robbery at the Roslyn Savings Bank located at 932 East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station.

Police say a man handed a teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied with the man’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer. The man then fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

The robber was described as white, about 5-foot-9, between 25 and 35 years old, unshaven, with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and a black baseball hat.

The second robbery occurred around 11:50 a.m. at the Capital One Bank located at 8 Little East Neck Road in Babylon.

Police say a man armed with a gun demanded cash. The teller complied and the man fled on foot west through the parking lot.

The robber, who was wearing a mask, was described as black, 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a dark baseball cap.

Police say the robberies are not related.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the robberies to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
