Train Service Suspended

Shortly after midnight the Long Island Rail Road halted all service citing snow and icy conditions. It hopes to have a holiday service schedule running starting this morning.

The trains stopped running on the Long Island Rail Road shortly after midnight on Monday morning due to blizzard conditions.

Officials at LIRR say work continued throughout the night to clear tracks and that it hopes to have a holiday schedule and trains back on track sometime Monday morning. As of 5 a.m. service remained suspended.

Travelers are advised to check the MTA web site for updates and to sign up for email and text alerts to keep up on the latest news.
