UPDATE: Power Outage Caused by W. Babylon Equipment Failure

Equipment failure in West Babylon led to more than 200 homes losing power.

An equipment failure on a pole on Little East Neck Road south of Montauk Highway caused over 200 customers to lose power Tuesday evening in Babylon Village.

Power was initially knocked out around 5:30pm to customers in Babylon. Outages were reported to be fix and the power returned within two hours.

Patch during the afternoon periods of rain yesterday. According to LIPA Director of Communications Mark Gross, the outage map where the information came from was incorrect and only 229 homes were without power.

There was no word on whether the rain yesterday contributed to multiple outages around Long Island yesterday. As of 11:45am, there were no customers were without power throughout the Town of Babylon and nearly 700 customers are without power on Long Island.
