Weather Impacting Train Commute
Riders turn to social networks to get info on delays and voice their displeasure.

Weather-related issues, including lightning, is reportedly playing havoc with Long Island Rail Road service this evening though the MTA web site is reporting only ‘delays’ on Babylon train station trains.
Social networking site reports, including Twitter, indicate that trains to Babylon and other Long Island points, have been cancelled or not running on time.
The MTA’s web site provided this information as of 7 p.m.

Due to weather-related signal problems, LIRR trains are operating with residual delays of approximately 10 to 30 minutes with the possibility of additional canceled and/or combined trains. Trains on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay and Hempstead Branches are experiencing residual delays of up to two hours.

One Twitter post indicated that several trains heading to Babylon did not stop at scheduled stations.
Earlier in the afternoon the MTA reported that all trains were back on schedule.
