Winners of 2 Babylon Village Holiday Contests Announced

BABYLON, NY - The winners of two Babylon Village contests were announced this past weekend.

First, the winners of the third annual Home Holiday Decorating Contest, which took place last week, were named on the Babylon Beautification Society Facebook page. Awards were given to homes with the best holiday light and decoration displays.

The Basile family won for best holiday spirit at their Argyle Avenue home:

The Gangone family's Woodrow Parkway home had the best animation:

And the Gimbetlein family on Cadman Avenue received the award for the best lawn display.

Members of the beautification society along with Village of Babylon Mayor Ralph Scordino presented each winner with a commemorative tree ornament and lawn sign.

There were also several winners in the 2019 Conklin House Holiday Cookie Contest. The competition had 75 entries this year, judge in several different categories. Some participated in the secret challenge which required using a special ingredient - potato chips.

The winners include:

• Buddy and Me - Gabby Williams
• 5th to 6th grade - Katherine Orifici
• 7th to 9th grade - Ashley Burke, Olivia Conti, Sofia DeSa, Emily Kenny, Carly O'Brien
• 10th to 12th grade - Gianna Carty, Salena Roberts, Rebecca Scharf
• Adult Category - Sharon Sobral
