BAY SHORE, NY - A fundraising campaign to help a motorcyclist seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in North Bay Shore last week has nearly reached its goal.

On April 27, James Antonelli, 63, of Bay Shore was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Pine Aire Drive, east of Manatuck Boulevard, when the motorcycle was struck by a car that drove out of a 7-Eleven parking lot and eventually fled the scene, Suffolk Police said.

Antonelli was then thrown into the westbound lane where he was struck by a 2004 Mercury sedan.

On Sunday, 61-year-old Oswin Bravo, of Westbury, was arrested in connection to the incident and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury, police said.

However, Antonelli still needs help while he recovers from the crash.

As a result, one of his friends, Lucienne Colombo, started a campaign on GoFundMe to help raise $5,000 on his behalf.

"Please donate to help our brother Jimmy and let’s lift him up and help him and his loved ones through this difficult time," Colombo wrote.
