Coronavirus: Southside Hospital Celebrates 500 Patient Discharges

BAY SHORE, NY — It was a day of celebration Saturday as Southside Hospital's 500th coronavirus patient was discharged in Bay Shore. The patient, Helber Soriano of Bay Shore, was wheeled out of the hospital and found a group of employees gathered outside cheering and clapping in support.

The milestone came after health care workers at the local hospital celebrated 36-year-old Yanira Soriano, who was discharged and got to meet her baby for the first time last week after recovering from the coronavirus. Helber, who spent four days in the hospital, was discharged shortly after.
