Top 10 Places to Shop on Black Friday

Attention, shoppers! The day you have been waiting for all year is almost here.

What better way to burn off those extra calories from  Thanksgiving feasting than to go shopping on Black Friday, the busiest retail day of the year? If you are seeking bargains this year, Patch has put together a list of the top 10 shopping centers closest Douglaston where you can find the best bang for your hard earned buck.

1. Douglaston Plaza Shopping Center- 242-02 61st Avenue, Douglaston. Here you can find stores such as Macy’s, Toys R Us and Modell’s to name a few. Macy’s will be opening its doors at 4 a.m. for door buster deals. If there are children on your Christmas list this year, you might want to check out Toys 'R' Us. The store will be closed during the day on Thanksgiving, but will open at 10 p.m. on Thursday night. It will not close until 11 p.m. on Friday. Deep discounts include 50 to 75 percent off many toys and specially marked down items store wide. Modell’s is also opened from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will offer their biggest sales of the year.
2. Great Neck Plaza- Middle Neck Road, Great Neck. With more than 250 boutiques and restaurants, this shopping area offers a variety of local stores specializing in clothing for men, women and children as well as jewelry, health and beauty, home furnishing, design, electronics and computers. All store hours and deals vary by store.  
3. Bay Terrace Shopping Center - 212-45 26th Avenue, Bayside.  This outdoor shopping mall is located several miles away from Douglaston and is home to major retailers such as The Gap, Express, Aldo Shoes, Areopostale, Steve Madden, Carters, The Children’s Place, Foot Locker, Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret and many more. Certain retailers such as The Gap will be opened as early 5 a.m.. Promotions vary by store.  
4. Lake Success Shopping Center- 1526 Union Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Here you’ll find popular stores such as Sears, Bath & Body Works, Bed, Bath and Beyond and New York & Company.Several stores, such as Victoria's Secret, will be opened from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. That store will offer specially reduced prices on all gift sets between $15 to $35 and every customer gets a free bag with the purchase of $60 or more. Bed, Bath and Beyond will be opened from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is giving away a 20 percent coupon to all shoppers between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.. The store will be offering everyday low prices on all items throughout the store.
5. The Americana Manhasset- 2060 Northern Blvd, Manhasset. With more than 200,000 square feet of brand name designer stores, the Americana is one of Long Island’s premier luxury shopping experiences.  From Armani to Gucci, Brooks Brothers to Hermes, Fendi to Versace and Cartier to Louis Vuitton, any shopaholic is bound to drop by the center on Black Friday. The opened air mall will be opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  
6. The Shoppes at Fresh Meadows - 188th Street & Horace Harding Expressway, Fresh Meadows.  Kohl’s, Filenes Basement, Nine West and The Children’s Place are just several of the stores located in this busy complex. Kohl’s will open its doors at 3 a.m. on Friday for door buster deals, offering more than 400 early bird specials. Filene’s Basement, “Home of the Bargain,” is operating from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will be having “surprise” deals throughout the day.
7. Austin Street - 71st Continental and Austin Street, Forest Hills. Here, you’ll find an assortment of shops and boutiques from clothing and jewelry to cosmetics and health foods. The busy shopping strip includes a book store as well as numerous restaurants and cafés that offer a variety of food, from Mexican cuisine to burgers. Store hours vary.
8.  The Source Mall- 1504 Old Country Road, Westbury. This indoor outlet mall will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday. Major stores such as Old Navy, H&M, Nordstrom Rack, Saks 5th Avenue, Off 5th, Toys 'R' Us Express, Forever 21 and Zales Jewelers are offering sales on items storewide. Specials vary from store to store. 
9. Roosevelt Fields Mall- 630 Old Country Road, Garden City. With too many stores to list and a price range for every budget, you are bound to find something on your Black Friday list here. Doors open at 5 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Hours will vary at department stores such as Macy's, Bloomingdales, Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstrom and JC Penny store. Select retailers will be open at midnight on Thanksgiving. Specials and sales vary from store to store. 
10. Parkway Plaza- 207-225 Glen Cove Road, Carle Place. This strip mall has a little bit for everyone, from household items to clothing and a little bit in between. Its largest tenant, T.J. Maxx, will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering a variety of sales throughout the day.
