It was a busy week in northeast Queens.  

Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone, and state Sen. Malcolm Smith, D-Jamaica, pleaded not guilty in a mayoral rigging scheme.  

P.S. 203 students took the top prize in a state competition and will now move on to the nationals. And Patch spoke with the last remaining original member of The Spinners, who will perform in Bayside next week.

Monday
The city debuted six electric cabs this week. Reviews in This Week at the Movies included “Oblivion” and “The Lords of Salem.”  

Tuesday
Halloran and Smith plead not guilty in a scheme to rig the mayoral election by getting Smith on the Republican ballot. And two combined northeast Queens synagogues host their first event - a dinner dance – together.  

Wednesday
The Spinners will perform on May 5 at Queensborough Community College. Check out Patch’s interview with member Henry Fambrough. Fleet Week is cancelled due to budget constraints.  

Thursday
P.S. 203’s fifth grade team wins the state’s Odyssey of the Mind competition. Now, they are on to the national competition in Michigan.  

Friday
This week’s Queens Eats recipe is sun dried tomato and chevre mac and cheese.
