Bed-Stuy Bicycle Thief Makes Off With More Than $5K In Loot, Police Say
Police are hunting for the man who stole a $3,000 bike and $2,000 in supplies from Bed-Stuy homes in the past month.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — An incompetent burglar who tried and failed to break into two Bed-Stuy homes stepped up his game and has made off with thousands of dollars worth of loot, according to police.
The burglar has pried his way into four residential buildings in the past month and has snuck away with a $3,000 bicycle and about $2,150 worth of tools and cleaning supplies, police said.
The unidentified man began his supply closet burglary spree with two failed attempts to get into homes near Jefferson Avenue in mid-April — he tried to break into a home near Bedford Avenue on April 13 around 10 p.m. and another home near Nostrand Avenue on April 15 around 5 a.m.

The thief had his first win the morning of April 18 when he broke through the glass door of a residential building near MacDonough Street and Marcy Avenue and stole $1,526 worth of tools and cleaning supplies, police said.
That same morning, the man broke into another building on Gates and Vanderbilt avenues where he tried and failed to steal a television set, according to police.

The hit-and-miss thief tried his luck one night later when he used a crowbar to break into a home near Monroe Street and Bedford Avenue and ran off with about $630 in cleaning supplies in tools, said police.
The burglar’s most lucrative heist came on May 6 around 11:40 p.m. when he snuck into a local storage room and grabbed a bike worth $3,000, according to police.
Police describe the bicycle thief as a man in his thirties with a medium build and short, cropped hair, seen wearing a red shirt, khakis black sneakers, a dingy white towel and a knitted cap with a pompom on top.
