BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Cops have released video of a drive-by shooting that sent a 53-year-old to the hospital last weekend.

Surveillance video released Wednesday shows the moment a shooter, inside a dark-colored GMC SUV, pulled up alongside another car near Chauncey Street and Saratoga Avenue and shot four times into its backseat around 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, according to police.

At least one of the bullets hit a 53-year-old who was sitting in backseat of the second car in the shoulder. The second car was a vehicle-for-hire, police said.

The victim was taken to Interfaith Medical Center in stable condition.

The shooting is one of dozens in North Brooklyn in the last few weeks as the city deals with a spike in gun violence.

In the past few days, activists have held a "Cease Fire Peace Walk" and "Stop the Violence Town Hall" in Bed-Stuy hoping to address the shooting surge. The town hall was held in a playground where 1-year-old Davell Gardner Jr. was shot and killed last week.

Citywide, shootings have spiked more than 200 percent in the last few weeks, compared to the same time period last year. North Brooklyn has been a particular hot-spot for the gun violence, seeing 82 shootings in the last 28 days compared to just 13 during the same period in 2019, according to NYPD data.
