'Ninja' Bed-Stuy Gun And Drug Traffickers Busted, Prosecutors Say
Five men stand accused of trafficking guns, which they called ninjas, from South Carolina into Bed-Stuy, prosecutors said.
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- Police busted a large trafficking ring that sold thousands of dollars worth of heroine and South Carolina guns, which they referred to as ninjas, out of Bed-Stuy, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Markie Brown, 44, Darryl Currie, 49, and Craig Darby, 46, stand accused of trafficking guns on the Iron Pipeline to be sold in the streets of Bed-Stuy and East New York, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office announced.
The NYPD launched its investigation after an undercover cop bought four guns for $3,800 on June 13, 2018, court records show.

Undercover officers conducted a total of 11 sales that took place at Fulton Street and Broadway in East New York and near DeKalb and Throop avenues, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors believe Darby, of South Carolina, supplied Glock, Springfield Armory, Ruger, Taurus International and Sig-Sauer pistols, among others, to the Brooklyn traffickers.

Currie, also worked with Bed-Stuy man Fred Chapman, 46, and Queens resident Dorian Cabrera, 47, to sell heroin across Brooklyn, prosecutors said.
When police arrested Chapman on March 13, they found more than $43,000 in cash and 50 grams of heroin in his home and Honda Accord, court records show.
Currie, Darby and Brown were arraigned on charges of criminal sale of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon and conspiracy in Brooklyn Criminal Court, prosecutors said.
Brown was held on a $250,000 bail and Currrie on a $100,000 while Darby will be sent to South Carolina to stand trial, prosecutors said.
Currie, Cabrera, and Chapman also face conspiracy and criminal sale of a controlled substance charges, prosecutors said. Cabrera was held on $25,000 bail and Chapman has not yet been arraigned, prosecutors said.
Brown and Currie are slated to return to court on May 20, said prosecutors.
