NYPD Cadet Caused Bed-Stuy Cafe Car Crash, Police Say

Mark Acevedo, a 23-year-old NYPD cadet, was arrested after he side-swiped a silver sedan and caused it to crash into the Civil Service Cafe.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — An NYPD cadet has been charged with causing, then fleeing, the wild crash that sent a silver sedan through a Bed-Stuy cafe window, police said.

Mark Acevedo, 23, side-swiped a silver car with Florida license plates on the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Clinton Place at about 8:40 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Acevedo sped away after the other car veered to avoid him and rammed into the Civil Service Cafe, police said.
