Politicians Say Cornegy's Claim To Fame Is Just A Tall Tale
Politicians from across the globe are challenging Guinness World Record's findings that a Bed-Stuy city councilman is the world's tallest.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLNY -- Lengthy lawmakers across the globe think little of Bed-Stuy councilman Robert Cornegy's new title as the world's tallest male politician.
Politicians in North Dakota, Ohio and China are challenging the Guinness Book of World Record's findings that that Cornegy, at 6-foot 10-inches tall, stands head and shoulders above the crowd.
An Ohio mayor, and former Chicago Bulls forward, went so far as to send a press release out claiming the New York Times had incorrectly reported the tallest politician in the nation.

"The title belongs to the Mayor of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, Bradley Sellers, who stands 7'tall," the release claims.
North Dakota insurance commissioner Jon Godread took to Twitter to challenge Cornegy's claim to tall fame.

"I don’t think this record will stand for long," wrote Godread, whom the New York Post reported claims to stand 1.75 inches taller than Cornegy. "Confirmed tallest @naic, next stop Guinness World Record!"
The Post also noted Yao Ming, a former NBA player and delegate to China’s National People’s Congress, could have more than a half-foot edge with his 7-foot 6-inch tall frame.
And during an honorary ceremony, riddled with the Mayor's best tall jokes, Cornegy noted a politician in Croatia also hopes to challenge the Guinness World Record's findings.
Whoever vies for the title will have to undergo two days and multiple measurements from accredited doctors willing to sign their names to their findings, Cornegy said. The challenges associated with meeting the Guinness World Record's standards were so great that one point Cornegy considered calling up the circus.
But Mayor Bill de Blasio said what mattered most was Cornegy's accomplishments as a City Council member.
"Robert Cornegy brought politics to new heights," the Mayor said. "This man's head is never in the clouds."
