4 John Jay Students Win Big At The Regeneron 2022 WESEF
The young scientists who impressed the judges won an impressive roll of awards for topflight research in diverse categories.

CROSS RIVER, NY — John Jay High School students made an enduring impression at the 2022 Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF) and we can hardly wait to see what they accomplish next.
The fair serves area high school students who have conducted original research projects in Westchester, Putnam and Sullivan Counties and are interested in sharing their research, competing for awards and a chance to attend the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, from May 7 - 13.
Four young scientists from John Jay impressed the judges and won an impressive roll of awards in diverse categories.

"Congratulations to these outstanding seniors on their success," AP Biology and Science Research teacher Ann Marie Lipinsky said of the honors.

2nd Place Awards were sponsored by Con Edison and winners received a silver medal and $100.
- Computational Bio/Bioinformatics: Eliza Lichtman; "The Role of PDS5 in Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma"
3rd Place Awards were sponsored by the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation and winners received a medallion and $75.
- Physics & Astronomy: Josh Hiller; "What is the correlation between directional uncertainty and energy proxy of neutrino events observed in Ice Cube?"
Office of Naval Research certificates, medallions and $50 gift cards were awarded to outstanding individual projects in science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics.
- Behavioral and Social Sciences: Delaney Martin; "Comparing the Effects of Fine v. Gross Motor Skill Usage on Selective Attention."
Today's Students, Tomorrow's Engineers Awards of $50 sponsored by Engineering Tomorrow were presented to students who exhibit the enthusiasm, desire and intellect to study engineering as evidenced by their project and presentation. They were deemed to have the aptitude to use their talents and gifts to engineer a better tomorrow.
- Engineering: Aiden Oates; "Deep Learning Drivers-Ed: Analyzing the effect of various light intensities on autonomous vehicle object detection."
