Harvey's Hockey Team Loses in Overtime to Somers
Somers High School's hockey team pulled out a 3-2 overtime win against The Harvey School Friday, Dec 9.
The game was knotted at 0-0 until early in the third period when Ricky Schulman scored on the first shift of the period. Somers took advantage of two opportunities later in the third period when they were able to tie the score on a 4 on 3 power play and then go ahead with a goal that came on a penalty shot.
Schulman scored within the last minute on a drop pass from Mike Morra to send the game into overtime. But Somers scored first in overtime to win the hard-fought contest.

COED VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT AT COUNTY CENTER

Registration is now open for the Westchester County Coed Volleyball Tournament, to be held Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 18 and 19, 2012, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
The tournament is open to men and women, 18 years of age and older, who are members of organized teams, such as corporations, clubs, recreation centers or local “Ys.”
The tournament will be played in Round Robin format on Wednesday to determine the ranking of each team, with a double-elimination tournament for the championship round on Thursday. The tournament will be played in two levels of competition: recreation and power recreation. Awards will be given to the winning teams and runners-up in each division.
Fee is $195 per team, with a limit of 20 teams. Deadline for registration is Jan. 11. The Coed Volleyball Tournament is sponsored by Westchester County Parks. The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains. Parking is $5.
