JJ boys hoops win
It doesn't get much bigger then sectional time against a neighborhood rival and that was the case for No. 18 John Jay when it traveled to No. 15 Somers Feb. 15 for an outbracket Section 1 Class A contest.

It's even bigger if you can come out with a victory and that's what John Jay did, winning 59-48.
Matt Ferentini led the Indians to the huge win by scoring a game-high 23 points.

Girls sectional hoops
Allison Lombardi was on fire as she led Fox Lane with 21 points, including the game-tying foul shot with a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, in the Foxes' thrilling 48-38 OT triumph Feb. 15 against visiting Mamaroneck in a Class AA outbracket game.
Teammate Julia Raue was also outstanding, contributing to the win with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Fox Lane will play at No. 2 Arlington in an opening-round matchup today at 5 p.m.

Boys swimming championships
Fox Lane and John Jay/Brewster's boys swimming squads both competed at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack in the Section 1 championships, placing eighth and ninth respectively out of 23 teams Feb. 15.
