Harvey JV ice-hockey falls to King
We thank the Harvey athletic department for the below submission:
On Monday, January 9th the Harvey JV hockey team traveled to Stamford CT, to face the King School. The Cavaliers came out flying but King capitalized on Harvey's inability to finish and went up 3-0 in the first period.
A lot of physical play and strong defense limited the King offense to only two goals in the second period. In the third period the Cavalier finally got on the score sheet with a nice tick tack toe play from Keith Lambert to Curtis Rattner catching the goalie completely off guard.
On the following shift on the Power Play Theo Rattner received a pass in the crease and roofed the puck top shelf to score Harvey's second goal of the afternoon. Final score: Harvey 2, King 5.
Harvey beats Forman
We thank the Harvey JV ice-hockey coaching staff for the below submission on its Sat. Jan. 7 contest:
Harvey JV Hockey kicked off the New Year traveling to Forman on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to take on the Lions and emerged with a stirring, come from behind, 5 - 4 victory.
Forman jumped out to a quick 2 - 0 lead but by the end of the first period the game was tied. Harvey held brief leads of 3 - 2 and 5 - 3 but Forman fought back each time to close the gap to a single goal midway through the third period. The Cavs played excellent defensive hockey for the final ten minutes to seal the win.
Freshman Keith Lambert paced the JV Cavs with a Hat-Trick and two assists, Eight-Grader Theo Rattner and Sophomore big brother Curtis Rattner added a goal and two assists each, Freshman Anthony Horner chipped in with two assists and Freshmen Tommy Gattuso and Joe Sorrentino added an assist each from the blueline.
Freshman Marcus Plummer got the start in goal and played well making 23 saves but really excelled with the game on the line. With 35 seconds left and six skaters Forman put on a furious rally but Marcus stood tall making three saves, the last a brilliant right-pad kick save as time ran out. Marcus was also voted player of the game by the Forman Captains.
Special mention to JV Veterans Sophomores Rory Knox, Kieran O' Conner and Junior Pat Taylor who stressed "hard work" and "The Team" throughout the game and in the lockerroom.
