BEDFORD, NY — Chabad of Bedford will hold a groundbreaking ceremony June 14 for its new $6 million synagogue. Because of the new coronavirus health crisis, the organization has come up with a way to allow its members to take part in the event and stay safe.

Chabad of Bedford will limit the ceremony to 10 people or fewer, which aligns with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

While there will be remarks and a dignitary groundbreaking at 4:30 p.m., throughout the day, Chabad of Bedford families will be able to reserve, in advance, a 10-minute time slot — between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. — in which they can also break ground, write a letter in the new Torah scroll and put their stamp on an art piece that will reside in the new synagogue's education wing.
