Coronavirus: 2 In Bedford Schools Test Positive For Virus

BEDFORD, NY — Two people from the same family in the Bedford Central School District tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Superintendent Joel Adelberg, in a letter to the community posted on the district's website, said Tuesday that one of the persons was from Fox Lane Middle School and one from from Fox Lane High School.

They are both currently isolating, he said.

The last date of exposure at the middle school was Oct. 6, and the last date of exposure at the high school was Friday, officials said.

Adelberg said, due to the hybrid learning model in both buildings, the number of those potentially exposed was much reduced.

He said it was recommended that any individual exposed be tested for the new coronavirus, though not until at least five days after a person's last date of exposure.

Contact tracers will be reaching out to those who were thought to be exposed.

"No matter how many times we communicate this information," Adelberg said, "it never gets easier, and it is no less concerning.

He said the district will continue to work with the Westchester County Department of Health and keep the community informed.
