Coronavirus Case Announced At Fox Lane HS
The superintendent said, thanks to the district's hybrid learning model, the number of those potentially exposed was reduced.

BEDFORD, NY — One person at Fox Lane High School in Bedford tested positive for the new coronavirus Monday. In a letter dated Thursday and posted online to parents, guardians and staff, Bedford Central School District Superintendent Joel Adelberg said the person is currently in isolation.
He also said, due to federal health privacy laws, further information about the individual's identity cannot be released.
"Those students and staff that were potentially exposed to the individual have been notified or are being contacted separately," Adelberg wrote. "I know this is concerning news, but please respect the individual's privacy during this difficult time."

The district is working collaboratively with the Westchester County Department of Health, Adelberg wrote, "and as always the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority."
The people exposed to the person who was infected will be required to quarantine for 14 days from the last exposure date, which was Sept. 16.

"Thankfully, due to our hybrid model, the number of those potentially exposed is much reduced," Adelberg wrote, adding that anyone exposed to the virus should be tested for the coronavirus no sooner than at least five days after a person's last date of exposure.
People who have potentially been exposed will receive a call from a contact tracer, he said. The caller ID could read "NYS Contact Tracing" or display a "518" area code.
"This is not the news we wanted to receive," Adelberg wrote," and certainly not so soon into the school year. However, we will work through this together."
