The Brentano String Quartet's unsurpassed creativity and rigor has made them to top American quartet performing today. To help celebrate their 20th anniversary as a quartet, Caramoor co-commissioned ‘Fragments: Connecting Past and Present’. The Brentanos invited six living composers to write pieces related to fragmentary works by past masters—a formidable project opening the present onto the past.
