“Celebrating Lewisboro Talent on the Farm”

An artistic exhibition and cocktail party, “Celebrating Lewisboro Talent on the Farm” will be held at Onatru Farm in South Salem from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, September 24th and feature works by some 18 respected local artists, writers, photographers, sculptors and jewelry designers.

Among the highlights will be works by J. Henry Fair, whose striking photographs of industrial scars have been featured in The New York Times, as well as National Geographic, Vanity Fair, TIME, and New York magazines, on The TODAY Show and NPR’s Marketplace. An autographed copy of his book, “The Day After Tomorrow: Images of Our Earth in Crisis” will be available for sale. Mr. Fair is co-founder and director of the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Nationally recognized botanical artist and illustrator Louisa Rawle Tiné of South Salem, whose work has won numerous awards, will be exhibiting her famed acrylic gouaches. Noted artist Richard Lang Chandler of Cross River will also be exhibiting his work and offering it for sale. Mr. Chandler’s work, focusing on landscapes, is included in multiple museum and private collections. Other Lewisboro artists on exhibit will include June Gumbel of Waccabuc, best known for her pastels, and Ruth Dombrow of Golden’s Bridge, whose abstract paintings often include elements of collage.

Of particular interest is a small drawing (c. 1840s) by Belgian Romantic period landscape painter Jean-Michel Cels that is being donated for exhibit and sale by local residents Mitche and Helen Kunzman. Another piece by Monsieur Sels recently sold at Sotheby’s for $17,000.

“Celebrating Lewisboro Talent on the Farm” will offer works for sale from $40 to $2500. The event benefits Lewisboro’s Democratic Candidates: Peter Parsons for Town Supervisor, Dan Welsh and Peter Gross for Town Board, Susan Simon for Town Justice, and Peter Ripperger for Highway Superintendent.
