The Crucible

Tickets are now on sale for Bedford Community Theatre’s spring production, Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible,” with performances on May 12 and May 19 at 7:00pm; May 13, 14, 20, 21 at 8:00pm; at the Bedford Hills Community House, 74 Main St., Bedford Hills. Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for students.

June O’Neill, who is the director, says of the play: “The Crucible is a great American drama about a great American tragedy. Miller based the play on the true events of the late 17th-century witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts, but it was inspired by Senator Joseph McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee's crusade against supposed communist sympathizers. Just as the political climate of the McCarthy era was such that accusation and innuendo were enough to destroy reputations, so too did the intolerance, fanaticism and long simmering resentments of the residents of Salem Village reverberate through their community with devastating effect.”

More information about the production (as well as directions to the theater) can be found at www.bedfordcomunitytheatre.org. Bedford Community Theatre operates in cooperation with the Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department. For tickets, call 914-244-0474 or email bctonline@optonline.net.
