A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, William Shakespeare’s most famous comedy, is in rehearsal at Fox Lane High School. THE FOX LANE PLAYERS production is directed (with set designs) by C. Edward Steele, and costumed by Barbara Cutri. Technical direction and light design is by Patrick Bellino .
The play revolves around the adventures of four young lovers and a group of amateur actors, and their interactions with the fairies that inhabit a moonlit forest. The story takes place in Midsummer and is a complex farce centering on the romantic intrigues of Hermia (Samantha Reig) & Lysander (Mike Inserra), and Helena (Jenna Perlstein) & Demetrius (Mike Barr). Their situations are confused and complicated further when they enter the forest over which Oberon, the King of the Fairies (Max Sandler) and his Queen, Titania (Jessica Strongwater), preside. Puck (Joshua Safranek) is a major character who is full of mischief and tricks. Other visitors to the enchanted forest include Nick Bottom the weaver and his friends Quince, Starveling, Snug, Snout, and Flute (Nick DePalma, Ursula Seymour, Raihan Miah, Myles Grimes, Jeremy Kovac, and Ben Davis-Lorton). The group of amateur dramatists venture through the wood to rehearse their terrible but hilarious version of the play Pyramus and Thisbe. Others in the cast include Taylor Rynski, Chris Van Loveren, Josef Bitanga, Samantha Grant and Julia Lisi as well as Nicole Valinote, Eden Romeo, Sara Appedu, Emily Politi, Coryn Porter and Kate Engert. Emily Anderson serves as stage manager. The technical crew is comprised of 10 members: Oren Cohn, Doug Silverman, Abby Stuckey, Krista Gaffney, Emily Larkin, Kayla Pereira, Kyle Brown, Brian Weeks, Silas Grossberndt, and Karen Mariot.
Performances are scheduled for November 18ththrough 20th in the Mary Lou Meese Theater. Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens. Call 864-3499 for reservations and further information.
