Fifth 'Death Cafe' Returns to Katonah Village Library Oct. 5
The Death Café Northern Westchester is a European "salon" model of the popular cafes.

The following release is from organizers of Death Café:
The next Death Café will be held Sunday October 5th 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Katonah
Library. This will be our fifth gathering where we have had as many as fifty neighbors attend
The Death Café Northern Westchester has adopted the European “salon” model of Death Café:
free-flowing conversation around the topic of death-from-any-angle including its place in this
miracle we call life. Openness and acceptance of others experiences are the only pre-requisites to
participating. There are no speakers or planned topics, our goal is to create an accessible and
respectful space, free of discrimination, where people can express their views safely.
The Death Café concept was founded by Jon Underwood, in the UK, four years ago.

Underwood read about the work of Bernard Crettaz’s a Swiss sociologist reframing death as a
part of the impermanence of life. It was then that Underwood opened the first known Death
Café. Our Death Café’s have attracted a wonderful group of people with diverse interests,
experiences and stories, as well as refreshments that confirm that our meetings are like being at
home with friends.
There is no charge and a donation is requested for coffee and cake.
