Fox Lane/John Jay Weekly Sports Recap

Here's a look at high school sports in Bedford and Katonah.

Fox Lane Foxes

Baseball

Fox Lane baseball redeemed themselves after a 5-3 loss against Somers to crush Carmel 19-1 and Yorktown 13-7 for a current record of 11-5. Kyle Colesanti had two RBIs in the Somers loss. Donny Castaldo ran in three RBI's against Carmel while Jake McGrath had two.

Softball

Fox Softball fell to 12-4 on the season after winning two out of four games this week. After a 7-6 narrow victory over John F. Kennedy Catholic High School behind two RBI from Toni Ann Licata, the Foxes lost two out three games, 6-0, and 6-5, winning the third 3-1.

Boys Lacrosse

After two consecutive wins over Clarkstown South High School and Harrison, Fox Lane boy's lacrosse lost a close one to the Horace Greeley Quakers, 7-6 behind 14 saves from Cameron Stephens for a current record of 11-4. George Lodge had five combined goals between the last two games.

Girls Lacrosse

Fox Lane Girls Lacrosse is currently on a two game winning streak after convincing wins over Rye, 17-10, and Somers 23-10 behind ten saves from Jenn Pollock. Lindsay Toppe led the Foxes with seven goals with Lexi Cannon scoring five.

JOHN JAY INDIANS

Baseball
The John Jay Indians baseball team bounced back after a split series against Horace Greeley winning 8-5 Tuesday to redeem themselves from a 14-6 loss to defeat Rye Neck 13-7 behind four RBI from Jared Hirschberg and Dean Lambert. Mark Swertfager had three and Stephen Green two improving thee Indians record to 13-3 on the season.   

Softball
John Jay Indian Softball has experienced some adversity this week resulting in a tough four-game losing streak after being swept by rival Horace Greeley, 11-0 and 10-5 respectively in their first two games. New Rochelle was up next and the Indians suffered an 8-0 defeat before ending the week on an unfortunate note 14-5 to Yorktown for a record of 6-10. The Indians look to bounce back Monday at Byram Hills.

Boys Lacrosse
John Jay boys lacrosse had another stellar week improving to 14-1 after beating Byram Hills 12-8 behind three goals each from Mike Daniello, William O'Donnell, and Jake Weil. Daniello also had one assist with Forrest Walter scoring two Goals. The Indians finished out the week with a 14-9 win over Connecticut's Ridgefield High School.

Girls Lacrosse

John Jay Indian girls lacrosse also had another phenomenal week on the winning end edging out Lakeland 15-14 behind 24 saves from Veronica Brady Monday. Casey Bocklet then led the Indians with five goals in a win over Somers. An 18-6 victory over Horace Greeley capped the week for an improved record of 14-1 heading into sectional play.
