Katonah - The athletes who played sports during the winter term this year for The Harvey School were honored at the Middle School Winter Sports Awards Ceremony Wednesday, February 15. This season the winter sports program experienced a 75% participation rate.
Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders on the Middle School’s hockey team and four basketball squads were recognized by their coaches as each team was introduced to the parents, faculty, and athletes who attended the ceremony.

Middle School Athletic Director and coach of the 8th grade basketball’s Maroon Team, Patrick Kennedy, in recognizing the efforts of his athletes through the season, noted that his team played in the more competitive “A” league for the for the first time this season.
Coaches Michael Rubenfeld and David Ketner recognized their sixth and seventh grade athletes on the Middle School’s White Team #1, saluting them for “staying competitive through hustle and determination.” The coaches, who also guided White Team #2, said “Team 2 had several nice comebacks late in games.”
Middle School Head Brendan Byrne and Stephanie Metz coached the girls’ basketball team. They noted that the team had 12 eighth-graders on the roster, the most in any year. In praising the efforts of their team, the coaches said the girls demonstrated their season-long hustle and determination in a game against Greenwich Catholic when Harvey fought back from a 10-point deficit to send the game into overtime.
Coaches Douglas Plaskett and Kyle Delaney praised their hockey team for setting a Middle School record of having more first-time goal scorers in a season with 8.
The coaches of each team also announced the names of the players that won special honors for Most Valuable Player (MVP), Most Improved Player (MIP), Sportsmanship, and the Coaches Award. The following players received team awards:
