Higgs leads Harvey boys hoops to two victories: Bedford-Katonah Daily Sports Digest, Jan. 11

This past Wednesday (1/4) the ’s boys’ varsity basketball team hosted the French American School. The Cavaliers were aggressive from the start, spearheaded by their pressure defense.

French American put up a good effort but were not able to overcome the early deficit that they found themselves in. The final score was Harvey 60, French American 35. The Cavaliers were led by junior Julien Higgs who scored a game high 23 points.

On Friday, January 6 the Harvey school’s boys’ varsity basketball hosted the King School. Harvey was outsized and undermanned, with a couple of starters missing the game because of injury.

Harvey battled hard and was down by 5 at halftime. In the second half King wore Harvey down and was able to pull away. King ended up winning 67 to 43. Harvey was led by Aaron McBurnie, who scored 17 points.
 
On Monday, January 9 the Harvey boys’ varsity basketball team travelled to the Oakwood Friends School. It was a back and forth battle in the first half with Harvey achieving an eight point lead. In the second half Harvey stepped up the defensive intensity. Harvey went up by as many as 23. The final score was Harvey 58, Oakwood 41. Harvey was paced by Julien Higgs, who scored a game high 23 points. 

 

GV BBALL

On January 9 the Harvey girls’ varsity basketball team hosted the Oakwood Friends School. Harvey emerged victorious 34-16. Leading all scorers for the Cavaliers was forward Gabi Paulhec (14). Guard Cece Nwokacha contributed ten in the winning effort for Harvey.

 

GJV BBALL

On Monday, January 9 the Harvey girls’ jv basketball team won its third game of the year by defeating visiting Oakwood Friends 25-13.  

Leading scorers for Harvey were Alexis Palmer and Sami Panoff with 9 and 6 points respectively.

Five other players chipped in 2 points apiece: Sammi Aloi, Sara Locascio, Shelley Pitterson, Kendall Finiasz, and Arianna Pilla. Olivia Bady, Sami Panoff, Alexis Palmer, and Shelley Pitterson all grabbed multiple rebounds, while Vanessa Mackiewicz and Sara Locascio both ran the offense for the Lady Cavs.
