Katonah Resident Wins Grammy Award

Jazz guitarist John Scofield received a Grammy award Monday for Best Jazz Instrumental Album.

The Katonah resident’s album—“Past Present”—is on the Impulse! label.

Scofield was also nominated for Best Improvised Jazz Solo, but that award went to Christian McBride.

According to the bio on his website, Scofield was born in Ohio and grew up in Connecticut.

He began playing guitar at 11 and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Scofield is an adjunct professor of music at New York University.
