KATONAH, NY — Recently retired Katonah State Farm agent, Mike Berardino, continues to live by the insurance giant's credo of being "a good neighbor."

He recently presented the Katonah Village Library with a $5,000 grant from State Farm. The library was selected by Berardino as part of his recognition for being a 100 for Good Champion. The award means he was one of 100 agents to record the most "Acts of Good" as part of a State Farm nationwide, multi-year initiative.

"At State Farm, we are committed to helping build stronger communities," Berardino said. "Although I’m now retired, it’s still important for me to be a good neighbor and support valuable neighborhood organizations, like the Katonah Village Library."

State Farm said the library was a perfect beneficiary of the grant as a community resource that provides equal access to information and facilitates the joy of reading, the exploration of ideas and engagement with the arts, sciences, and humanities for children and adults. The library was singled out for providing a comprehensive collection of books and media, professional service and a safe, attractive environment for cultural programs, exhibitions, and events that are facilitated and overseen by a skilled and enthusiastic staff and visionary leaders.

"The Library is honored and grateful to both Mike Berardino and State Farm for this very generous grant," Katonah Village Library Director Mary Kane said. "The grant will help the library expand its collection of resources and diverse programming. Happy 100th Anniversary, State Farm — with appreciation from Katonah Village Library."
