Katonah's Julia Mallon Named Harvey School's Top Female Student-Athlete for January

Mallon, who plays basketball, earned a place on the Headmaster's List for achieving a grade-point average of at least a 3.7.

Julia Mallon of Katonah has been named as the top female student athlete for January, The Harvey School announced Friday. The freshman earned the honor for academic excellence and for her contributions to the success of the girls varsity basketball team.

Mallon has earned a place on the Headmaster’s List for achieving a grade-point average of at least a 3.7. She also has played a key role as a starting player in the basketball team’s winning season. Coach Denis Arnautovic was happy for his player. “Julia is a hard worker and great teammate and in her quiet way quickly became a player who earned the respect of her coaches and teammates.”

The male student athlete of the month is senior Keith Lambert of Cortlandt Manor, an honor student and captain of the varsity hockey team. Lambert is enjoying a record-setting season in scoring as he closes in on the milestone of collecting 100 points in one season.

In considering the qualifications for the award, athletic director Mark Brandon said, “Both Julia and Keith exhibit the characteristics of what we look for in selecting our top student-athletes each month, excellence in the classroom and on the playing fields.”

The pair was formally recognized at a school assembly Friday, Feb. 13.
