Here's a wrap-up of scores and results for the week ending May 9, as reported by the Lewisboro Baseball Association.

The Pirates got off to a very fast start scoring 4 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings, led by Michael Wagner who went 3-4, Michael Sexton who went 2-2 w/2 walks and Jacob Tabs who reached base 3 times. The Nationals hung in there scoring 1 run in the second, 3 runs in the fourth and finally took the lead with 6 runs in the 5th. The Nationals were led by Chase Goldman w/ 2 doubles and Matthew Machado who scorched one up the first base line. Max Mallett and August Wachter played a very heads up game. GREAT GAME BY BOTH SIDES!!!!

Brendan Carberry pitched a strong first inning for the Diamondbacks against a Rangers ball club that came to play. The other Diamondbacks pitchers Charlie Boden, Charlie Murphy and Dan Johnston all pitched well to hold off an unwavering Rangers ball club. Peter Rifkin, Chris Orifici and Dan Johnston all played catcher and did a fine job behind the plate. Matt Butler, Charlie Bates, Will Kennedy and Cameron Shapiro all contributed by making fine fielding plays.
Rangers pitchers Daniel Mathews, Brian Daley and Andrew Bauts all performed very well against aggressive Diamondback hitters. Orion Cummings and Jordan Schwartz made outstanding defensive plays that stopped Diamondback rallies, keeping the Rangers in the game. The Rangers featured a balanced offense, with 8 players contributing hits.

Charlie Boden, Brendan Carberry, Chris Orifici and Dan Johnston, all pitched well to hold off a team of determined Marlins hitters. Charlie Boden had a big day at the plate going 3-3 that included a double. Charlie Bates contributed with a key single to drive in a run with bases loaded, while Chris Orifici and Charlie Murphy continued their hot hitting streaks. Brendan Carberry, Pete Rifkin, Chris Orifici and Dan Johnston all played catcher and did a great job behind the plate. Matt Butler, Charlie Bates and Will Kennedy all contributed by making fine fielding plays.
The Marlins pitchers Marc Allintoff, Drew Kersh and Matt Lee all performed very well against disciplined Diamondback hitters. The whole team played well with hits from 8 of the 9 players. Clutch hits by Colin Walsh, Matthew Lee, Drew Kersh and Marc Alintoff kept the Marlins in the game as they rallied from behind twice. The Ford twins, Dean and Bryce had two hits each, and 2 runs scored. Excellent defensive plays were made by Jack Henshaw, Walsh, and Lanza.

The Orioles came out swinging and scored 15 runs in the first 3 innings. Cole Borowitz hit a bases loaded double to clear the bases in the first inning. Richard Jones hit a bases loaded triple in the second inning along with Dimitri Belessakos long double that scored two runs. Ryan Comstock played excellent defense at second base. John and Ben Emerson had strong pitching perfornances.

In a tight and well-played contest, the Rockies edged out a 2-1 victory over the Diamondbacks. Stellar pitching by the D'Backs' Jake Heffler, Sean White and Hayden Cassone and the Rockies' Greg Hoffman, Ryan Cavanagh, Jamie Miller and Kyle Campbell yielded a combined total of 3 runs for the entire game.
White's 2 singles, and singles by Cassone, Mark Machado and Barrett Middleton led the D'Backs' offensive attack. Jamie Miller drove in the Rockies' 1st run in the 5th with an RBI single, and then Steven Palmesi's single and steal of second base set the stage for Greg Hoffman's game winning RBI single in the 6th. Awesome fielding plays by Cavanagh and Griffin Wallick were key factors in the Rockies' victory as well.

In a contest that was twice delayed by rain, the Orioles and the Rockies battled through the elements in a well-played game that saw the Rockies squeeze out a 6-4 victory.
Impressive pitching performances by the Rockies' Will Palmieri, Ryan Cavanagh, Jamie Miller, Greg Hoffman and Kyle Campbell, and the Orioles' Ethan Zimiles, Michael Gaglioti, Matt Polemeni-Hegarty, Alex Kohlhagen and Will Gaglioti, kept the game close.
The Rockies' offensive charge was led by Miller's single and 2-RBI triple that proved to be the game-winning hit, Cavanagh's 2 RBI singles and 2 runs scored, Noah Gold's bases-loaded RBI walk, Campbell's single, 2 walks and 2 runs scored, and Nick Ricci's key walk and scoring of the go-ahead run. Matt Schuetz's walk and run scored, as well as a key play in the infield, helped solidify the victory for the Rockies.
Offensive fireworks for the Orioles were provided by Michael Gaglioti with 3 RBI's on 2 hits including a double. The Orioles defense was led by Eric Decaminada's catching, which included a nice block and put-out at the plate.

The A's broke open a close game in the 3rd inning scoring 6 runs on 5 hits with Samuelsohn leading off the inning with a single followed by a walk to Heath and an RBI single by Kyle Campbell. Muniz, Cascioli and Sourbis each followed with RBI hits. The Twins were led by long base hits from both Entwistle and Palacio and flashed some superb defense early in the game.

The Marlins topped the Rangers 5-2, pitching was the story as Justin Drpich and Jared Kersh dueled and both strike out five in the two innings they pitched. The Marlins Teddy Laquidara and Max Rappy also helped lead the Marlins to victory with a four solid innings pitched. Mike Palmesi lead the offensive charge for the Marlins with 2 RBIs and Max Rappy added a late inning RBI with long double to left.
