Memorial Day Events 2022: Bedford-Katonah
There will be time for fun and festivities this weekend, but Memorial Day events will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
BEDFORD, NY — Longstanding events to honor the sacrifices of America's soldiers will take place in Bedford Hills, Katonah, Village of Bedford, Lewisboro, Golden's Bridge, North Salem and Pound Ridge once again in 2022.
This Memorial Day, Bedford area towns and hamlets will host remembrance ceremonies again. The events will allow in-person attendance for those who wish to show their respect.
The Bedford Hills Memorial Day parade and ceremony will return this year. The parade route will go from Babbitt Rd. to Church St. & Main St., starting at 9 a.m. Organizations scheduled to be in attendance include Katonah American Legion Honor Guard, Local Veterans, Mount Kisco Fire Department Ancient Fife and Drum Corp., Bedford Hills Fire Department, Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Bedford Hills Lions Club, Bedford Hills Neighborhood Association, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Bedford Hills Katonah Little League. Bedford Hills children are invited to patriotically decorate their bicycles and ride along the parade route. After the parade, there will be war memorial wreath placements at Community House and Depot Plaza War Memorials, followed by Special Guest Speaker and Vietnam War Veteran Daniel Hollis sharing a few words with the community. Light refreshments will then be served at the Fire House.

The Katonah Fire Department/American Legion Memorial Day Parade will kick off 10 a.m. at the Katonah Fire Department. It will proceed up Katonah Ave. to Lawrence Circle for a ceremony. The parade will then end back at the Katonah Fire Department where another ceremony will take place.

On Memorial Day in Bedford Village, anyone who wants to enter the Bike, Trike, Scooter, Etc. Decorating Contest can stop by the Post Office from 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. to register to ride in the parade. Prizes will be awarded at the end of ceremonies. The Bedford Village Parade will start at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Seminary Road and Pound Ridge Road (Route 172) and then turn right onto Pound Ridge Road to the Village Green. After the parade, there will be ceremonies at the WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War memorials on the Village Green. Residents are then invited to the Bedford Fire Department for light refreshments and a ceremony to honor all veterans who were also volunteer firefighters. The Bedford Historical Society invites the community to join them on the School House Green for colonial games, "Lessons with the School Marm", free ice cream and tours of the 1829 One Room "Stone Jug" School House. Lewisboro will host a Memorial Day service starting with a parade that assembles at 11:45 a.m. on Lake Shore Drive, Truesdale Lake, south end. The parade will start at 12:15 p.m. Services will take place at the Town House located at 11 Main St. in South Salem, following the parade. Other events scheduled include a greeting from Supervisor Tony Gonçalves, an invocation and benediction by Rev. Mark Salmon of South Salem Presbyterian Church, the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem sung by Heather Lackey, an introduction of veterans and special guests by John Lemke, the laying of wreaths by the Lewisboro Scouts and Taps.
Pound Ridge's 2022 Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony will start at noon. The traditional parade route will follow a path from Pound Ridge Elementary School, continue down Westchester Ave. to the town cemetery where there will be a remembrance ceremony. Parking will be available at the Town House or Town Park. The ceremony will be followed by a BBQ and cornhole challenge at Town Park.
After cancellations in 2020 and 2021, the Golden's Bridge Fire Department will host a Memorial Day community event on May 30, that will begin with a parade at 10 a.m. to the firehouse, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the American Legion monument.

The North Salem Memorial Day Parade will gather at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Oak Ridge Rd. and Route 116 and start at 10 a.m. It will end at the Westchester Exceptional Children's School with a ceremony. The Lions Club will then provide refreshments at the Purdys ball field.
