North Salem High School Student Earns Award At Regeneron 2022 WESEF

NORTH SALEM, NY — A North Salem High School student is adding to his impressive list of accolades, winning an award at the 2022 Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF) and we can hardly wait to see what he accomplishes next.

The fair serves area high school students who have conducted original research projects in Westchester, Putnam and Sullivan Counties and are interested in sharing their research, competing for awards and a chance to attend the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, from May 7 - 13.

Mark Takken, a promising young scientist from North Salem High School, wowed the judges and won a BASF Expanding Knowledge in Science Award of $50 for his research in the Computer Science category. The award was sponsored by BASF and was given to students who exhibited excitement and an enthusiasm for discovery.

Takken was named a Regeneron Scholar in the 2022 Regeneron Talent Search earlier this year for his research as well. At the time, both he and North Salem High School were awarded $2000 each. The North Salem High School senior's name might also be familiar for being a semi-finalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.
