Harvey vs. Greenwich
Find out what's happening in Bedford-Katonahfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
Harvey JV hockey hosted Greenwich Country Day School Monday and suffered its worst defeat of the season, 10-2.
It was a team effort as the offense and defense started lethargically and quickly fell behind 3 - 0. After cutting the deficit to 6 - 2 the rout was on as GCD scored the next four goals.
Sophomore Curtis Rattner scored both Harvey goals on assists from Eighth Grader and little brother Theo Rattner. Sophomore Charlie Seider and Freshman Alternate Captain Joe Sorrentino.
Freshman goalie Marcus Plummer played the first and third periods and made 15 saves. Senior goalie Alex Trister relieved Marcus in the second period and stopped all five shots faced.
Harvey vs. Foreman
Harvey JV Hockey hosted the Forman School on Thursday and ended up on the wrong end of a 5 - 4 decision. Although dominating the game at times, the Cavs could not finish and were beaten by the better team.
The Cavs jumped out 2 - 0 after one period and extended the lead to 4 - 1 halfway through the second, but after Forman cut the lead to 4 - 2 the roof caved in. Proving the old adage that momentum can change in an instant, after Freshman Keith Lambert hit the crossbar with a blistering wrist shot Forman countered with a rush which ended in a rebound goal.
The second period ended with the Cavs clinging to a 4 - 3 lead.
Coaches Griffin and Delaney stressed the importance of playing a disciplined game and avoiding the run-and-gun but to no avail. Forman wanted it more and tied it half way through the third period and went ahead with five minutes left for the 5 - 4 win.
The Cavs scoring was led by Keith Lambert and Eighth Grader Theo Rattner with a goal and assist each. Sophomores Corey Eisenband and Alternate Captain Kieran O' Conner scored the other goals while Sophomores Curtis Rattner and Charlie Seider and Junior Alternate Captain Pat Taylor chipped in with an assist each.
Freshman Goalie Marcus Plummer continued his stellar play facing 40 shots and turning away 35.
JV girls hoops
We thank the Harvey athletic department for the below submission:
On 2/8, the Girls’ JV Basketball team was unable to keep visiting Soundview Prep off the boards, and despite a late comeback, eventually fell by a 27-18 score. The Cavaliers could not find the basket in the first half, trailing 17-4, but came roaring back in the second half, cutting Soundview's lead to a mere 4 points before running out of steam.
Scorers for the Cavs were Sara Locascio (7), Sammi Aloi and Kendall Finiasz (4), and Vanessa Mackiewicz (3). Harvey's overall record stands a 5 wins and 5 losses with one game remaining.
