Pound Ridge Elementary School's Fifth Grade and Kindergarten Buddies

In keeping with tradition at Pound Ridge Elementary School, kindergartners and fifth grade buddies are paired up for the whole year. Together they will meet for art projects and special activities throughout the year, typically once per month. Fifth graders help the kindergartners practice routines and skills they use in class, and take on the role of a teacher. The children develop a special bond with their buddy and the relationship helps the new kindergarten students acclimate to their new school. The fifth graders look out for their buddies on the playground in the morning, on the bus, as well as throughout the day in the halls as they pass each other.
