Pound Ridge Native Recieves New Canaan Country School Alumni Award
Zach Iscol has served in the military and still serves veterans in multiple ways.
Pound Ridge, N.Y. native Zach Iscol ’94 was presented with the New canaan Country School Alumni Award.
“Zach’s military and post-military career is remarkable and certainly exemplifies our school’s mission in so many ways,” said Interim Head of School Peter O’Neill. “We congratulate Zach on his many contributions – both his military service and his commitment to American veterans.”
Iscol served two tours in Iraq and also spent time serving throughout Africa, other parts of the Middle East and Central Asia.

“True leadership starts with genuinely caring for those around you. Strong relationships lead to greater understanding, which ultimately is as important as being physically fit and well prepared,” Iscol said to a group of middle and upper school students at the school.
He now works with non-government organizations, advocacy groups and government agencies to aid Iraqi refugees. He also released the film The Western Front about his time in Al Anbar province.

Iscol is also the founder and CEO of Hire Purpose, which offers job and career advice to veterans. He is also the executive director of the Headstrong Project, which helps veterans struggling with mental issues.
