South Salem Man Injured in Lewisboro Assault, Robbery

The victim's identity was not released, but he was treated for his injuries at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut.

A 27-year-old South Salem man suffered lacerations and contusions to his head and face Monday when he was beaten and robbed by another South Salem man, according to state police.

The victim’s identity was not released, but he was treated for his injuries at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut. Arrested on second degree robbery and assault charges was Wyatt Gilchrist, 21.

Police said the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Monday at the Oak Ridge Commons Condominium Complex on Route 123 in Lewisboro where the victim lives.

He had just been dropped off by a friend when Gilchrist allegedly attacked the victim, pulling him out of the car and punching him several times. Gilchrist additionally pulled off the victim’s belt and beat him with it and took his wallet, police said.

“The victim was able to identify Gilchrist as the assailant,” police said in a statement.

Gilchrist was arraigned in the Town of Lewisboro Court by Judge Marc Seedorf, and he was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear in the Town of Lewisboro Court on March 30 at 6 p.m.
