State Police: North Salem Man Had More Than 2 Pounds of Pot

Some of the marijuana was packaged for sale, according to authorities.

North Salem resident Andrew D. Wiltse, 36, Wednesday on a charge of Criminal Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, after state police said troopers found more than 2 pounds of the drug in his possession.

The incident started when troopers were dispatched to Wiltse’s address to assist North Salem Police Department with a reported verbal domestic incident. While investigating that, police found Wiltse was in possession of more than 2 pounds of marijuana, some of which was packaged for sale.

Additionally, state police said, “Unrelated to this arrest, several mariJuana plants were also located growing on the rental property of the North Salem address. Police seized the plants that ranged from 4 to 6 feet tall. The investigation to determine ownership of the vegetation remains ongoing.”

Wiltse was arraigned before the Town of North Salem Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due to return to court on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
