The Story of Plastic - What It Is Doing to Our Planet

Presented in partnership with Bedford 2030, Bedford Playhouse will present on March 8 at 7 pm a virtual program featuring "The Story of Plastic," a seething documentary that exposes the terrible impact of plastic pollution in our global community.

The "Story of Plastic" contains striking footage, shot over three continents, that illustrates the ongoing catastrophe that ails our planet: fields full of garbage, veritable mountains of trash; rivers and seas clogged with waste; and skies choked with the poisonous runoff from plastic production and recycling processes. Original animations, interviews with experts and activists, and never-before-filmed scenes reveal the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poisoning communities around the world. It also highlights the anti-plastic global movement rising up in response.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion with New York State Senator Shelley Mayer; Rachana Shah, a Zero Waste Consultant and Representative for Beyond Plastics Mission; and Sheila Morovati, Founder HabitsofWaste.org. Sarah Douglis, Bedford 2030 Board Vice President, will moderate.
