Waccabuc native, Eliza Heaton, is the first to admit that her passion for performing, acting and singing was born and developed during her tenure at Ridgefield Academy. As graduation approaches, she reflected on the myriad of opportunities available to her as part of the Academy’s commitment to exposing its students to the arts, and a curriculum that nurtures their talents and abilities.
When Eliza came to the Academy in Grade 5, she immediately took advantage of the after-school programs, which included musical theater with Mr. Santanello, and drama with Mrs. Curry. Both classes allowed her the opportunity to explore a variety of roles and genres.
During her 4 years at Ridgefield Academy as Eliza’s love of the stage flourished, she garnered roles in school plays that allowed her to showcase her talents. She portrayed “Cruella Deville” in 101 Dalmatians, “Grace” in Annie, “Sandy” in Grease, and most recently, “Belle” in Beauty and the Beast. She has also pursued youth-theater outside of the Academy, appearing in main stage productions with Random Farms Kids Theater in Elmsford, NY, Lighthouse Youth Theater in Armonk, NY, and the South Salem Community Theater.

Eliza readily admits that her desire to pursue musical theater was a deciding factor when the time came to choose a secondary school. She is excited about attending The King School in Stamford, in part because of their focus on theater and musical productions. She is intent on following the dream that began in the classroom at Ridgefield Academy.
